Canon 550d iso 320 f/1.8 -1 EV exposure compensationFor me seems the Canon 50mm f/1.4 is very usable lens regarding picture quality. This does not means that tack sharp at f/1.4. If you want a sharp f/1.4 lens there are much better lenses out there like the Sigma 50mm f/1.4 Art, but you pay much more.
The Canon lens at f/4 is very sharp, but not bad even at f/1.8.
At f/1.4 it has a hazy, soft dreamy look, which can be interesting for some artistic shots. Starts to gets being sharp at f/2.
