Introduction

There is a rumour that Canon is developing a bunch of lenses in 2014. Rumours speak about 8 lenses in total. Most of these lenses are targeted for professionals and there are some consumer lenses as well. I reckon that one of the candidates could be perhaps the Canon 800mm f5.6 is II. This lens is currently the longest of the super telephoto lineup. There is an 1200mm lens as well but only manufacturing by request. What is this lens good for? This focal length is ideal for bird photography, this focal length makes easy to framing small birds tightly from a distance. Wildlife is also a perfect for this focal length. Bears, lions, elephants can photograph from a good distance.

Canon 800mm f5.6 is II specifications

What is expected from everyone is a better optical quality and perhaps less weight compare to the predecessor. This trend is can be seen all the Mark II model Canon super telephoto lenses (Canon 300mm f2.8 II, Canon 500mm f4 II, Canon 600mm f4 II). Currently the 600mm f4 is II+1.4x converter combination seems better optically than the current 800mm f5.6 model.
