Landscape like shotsAccording to my perception for these kind of shots this lens is not really the best, so as a one lens solution this lens is not the best choice. Obviously a lens with this sharpness and relatively bright f/2.8 aperture is very appealing as a normal lens. |
Why the landscape is not really working ? First the field of view is narrow, and usually apart from huge spaces, there is not enough space to go back, second the depth of field is shallower meaning, needs to stop down more, for which lots of light needed | What is exceptional is the amount of detail possible to get. The lens can give exceptional amount of detail even from the 8 megapixel camera. Of course for this precise focusing is obligatory. | |

The Canon 60mm macro is a very interesting lens. Compact, very sharp, and can make exceptional images. The images are made with a 8 Megapixel Canon 30D Dslr camera.
I guess with higher pixel count cameras the results can be even better. These are jpg images, the size is 700 x 1050 pixel. The original size is 3504 pixel these were resized to smaller format. Some kind of compression is also going on but the main caracter of the images can be checked.
The bokeh in closer distances very nice but in the normal telephoto range is not that fantastic, as the bokeh of the 85mm f/1.8 or longer or brighter lenses. In the close focus range though there is a lot to go for it.
