Tamron 180mm macro sample images
Tamron 180mm macro at f/4 1400 pixel wide, overcast weather, Canon 30D camera, very sharp from corner to corner
Tamron 180mm Macro f/3.5 wide open close the the minimal focus distance, 1300 pixel wide Canon 30D camera, the depth of field is quite shallow
As I see the optical quality of the Tamron 180mm macro is very high. The pictures are very sharp with strong contrast starting from the wide open f/3.5 aperture, all the way up to the smallest apertures (at least on my 8 Megapixel Canon 30D) and also there is a good possibility to play with the out of focus blur as well. To compare to lenses like the Canon 60mm, the 60mm has better resolution, but lot less creative potential and less working distance, which is tiring if we plan to make lots of insect images.
