Olympus is a Japan based company, and was founded in 1919. They started with fabricating thermometers and microscopes. Olympus started to make cameras in 1936. Olympus mainly concentrate on the Micro Four Thirds system together with Panasonic. The to brand has a same mount this way lenses also can be used in this two camera systems. The sensor size of the micro Four Thirds cameras are approximately 18*13mm, approximately 25% smaller than the Aps-C cameras. Just announced the Olympus OMD E-M5 II

The camera has a 16 Megapixel Live MOS sensor, with a True pic VII processing engine. The camera has a 5 axis image stabilization, which is claimed to be as effective as 5 stop according to Olympus. The initial price of the camera is 1100 USD. The camera has a unique feature when the camera can produce 40Mp images from 8 indidual pictures of the camera using the sensor’s shift movement. The camera has a fully articulated LCD screen and built in Wifi as well. The viewfinder has an eye-sensor for saving energy. The viewfinder has 2.36k dots resolution. The camera can record HD video (1920×1080) at 60fps at 77 MBit/s bitrate.

Olympus E-Pl 7 is coming

Seems a new E-Pl 7 camera is definitely coming. Olympus calls it Olympus PEN E-Pl 7. There are not too many technical details yet about it, just slim body, Retro design, Wifi connectivity, eye-cathing look, ultimate image quality, etc.

Samyang 50mm T1.5 AS UMC Cine Lens for MFT Mount

A new Samyang cine lens is coming. In the US under the name Rokinon. In cine lenses the use T-numbers(transmission value) which is more precise, instead of f-stops. The price of the new lens is 549 dollar. The lens is available in multiple mounts: Canon, Nikon, Sony A and E, and Micro 4/3 mounts.
Expected availability: September 05, 2014
The lens is Full frame compatible. The lens design includes one Aspherical and one Hybrid aspherical lens elements. This is a manual focus and manual focus aperture lens as usual up to now from Samyang. The aperture can be adjusted between T1.5 and T22. The minimal focus distance is 1.5′. The lens has UMC multi-coating and de-clicked aperture control ring. The lens has a filter size of 77mm, and features 8 disphragm blades. The lens design included 9 elements in 6 groups. The lens weigts 575g (20.3 oz).

Tamron 14-150mm lens is coming soon for the Micro Four thirds mount. The lens are already available for pre-order.

Olympus Sp 100EE superzoom compact – Olympus news

Seems a new feature packed 50x zoom compact camera(24-1200mm equivalent) coming from Olympus in May 2014. The new camera features an electronic viewfinder, an optical stabilizer, ISO range of 100-6400.

Seems Olympus 300mm f/4 lens is coming in 2015 – Olympus news

Olympus has announced a new telephoto prime lens with a 300mm focal length. The new lens will have an f/4 aperture and will be “Pro” grade and dust and splash-proof built. Olympus is also announced a new 7-14mm wide angle zoom with a constant f/2.8 aperture. Both lens is expected in 2015.
