Tokina 70-200mm f/4 stabilized lens with ultrasonic motor is announced for Nikon mount at 30th of May 2014. This is the first Tokina lens with optical stabilization. The lens soon will be showed at CP+ in Japan. Tokina is owned by Hoya co. a company that one of the biggest supplier of optical glass in the World. Tokina makes many exceptional quality lenses like the Tokina 11-16mm for Aps-C cameras for example. The new lens is equipped with ring-type ultrasonic autofocus drive, voice coil image stabilizer so seem packed with high technology. This is very interesting how good the new 70-200mm Tokina lens will be. Seem Tokina intend to make other lenses as well in the future with this new technologies. A long 500-600mm prime is perhaps welcomed by many, especially birders, sport and wildlife photographers. The native (Canon, Nikon) are very expensive there are a lot of room for budgeting.

Seems the new lens compatible at some with Kenko Teleplus converters (dgx, Pro300 dgx, 1.4x 2x) but the usage is not seamless, I don’t understand Japan very well, but perhaps Af-Mf switch cannot be used.
