Introduction – Sony a5100
Sony a5100 is a successor of the previous Sony a5000 camera. The new Sony a5100 seems an upgrade over the earlier Sony a5000 model. The new Sony a5100 got the 179 hybrid autofocus system of the Sony a6000 and has 921k LCD which was lower resolution in the earlier Sony a5000 model.

Seems the Nex word is disappeared from the name, Sony will call this cameras Alpha from now on. The biggest improvement over the earlier model the Sony Nex6, is the new hybrid Autofocus system which is claimed to be the fastest in the world with 179 phase detect and 25 contrast detect points. The sensor is also new, a 24Mpixel unit. At the same time Sony will release a new Sony a5000 model as well with little cropped specs (No viewfinder, smaller resolution Lcd, and sensor etc). The only thing where the previous Nex6 is better is the viewfinder, because the Nex6 viewfinder is bigger and has better resolution. The 180 degree tiltable LCD is now a touchsreen. The new camera capable of the XAVC S video format as well.

The new Sony a5100 camera has a 6fps continuous shooting ability which pretty good in absolut terms too. The iso range is between iso 100-25,600 which is also very good. The new Sony a5100 has an Aps-C sized Sony sensor and used Bionz image processing engine. The new Sony a5100 is also very capable in video recording.

The new Af system seems to be useful in moving subject tracking, and the camera has area-specific noise reduction and diffraction reduction as well, which supposed to correct softness caused by diffraction in smaller apertures. Now the 179 point hybrid focusing system known from Sony a6000 is in the camera.
