Introduction

Samyang has announced the new Samyang 10mm f2.8 lens. The new lens designed for Aps-C format cameras. Samyang goal with this lens to makes the highest optical quality in a possible smallest format. The Prototype of the Samyang 10mm f2.8 lens has been presented in Photokina 2012. Samyang has made some very nice wide angle lenses already. This new 10mm is a welcome addition to the existing lens lineup. If the new lens will be as good as the 14mm, will give a good run for the Canon, Sigma, Tokina Ultra wide angle lenses for the money. On Aps-C cameras this is a very good wide focal length, I prefer it over the 14mm. This focal length is ideal for dramatic landscapes, interiors. Distortion is an interesting question: to date Samyang has stronger distortion to date than their competitors, but with better resolution. The price is also interesting point, which can affect the succes of the new product greatly. I like the idea of the relatively affordable wide angle lens. The f2.8 aperture on paper also seems promising.

Optical quality

Seems optical quality is very nice according to the Sample pictures. The question is how much sharp the lens at f2.8-f4. But even if it is not so sharp at wider apertures, for landscapes the smaller apertures are preferred.
