Nikon d5500 officially announced

nikon d5500

The Nikon d5500 is officially announced. The camera definitely coming as it is possible to pre-order in BH at the link at bottom of the page. The camera will have a touch screen as we reported, a 24.2 megapixel sensor, HD video, 5 frames per second burst rate.

Seems it is smaller upgrade compare to the Nikon d5300. The biggest difference is touchscreen and the Wifi which enables the camera operate from a distance via a smartphone (Android and Ios as far as I know). Otherwise there is no reason to complain, the camera has an excellent sensor, several new functions, it is little smaller and lighter, has the same battery, and most functions not changed.

The Nikon d5500 has an eye sensor in the viewfinder. The camera also has a back LCD vari-angle touchsreen. The camera has a built in Wifi and the camera in theory can be controlled by a Smart phone from a distance including shutter release, focusing, etc. For star photography the camera permits unlimited continuous shooting between 4 and 30s shutter speeds. This function was only available in the Nikon d800 if I remember well.

No low pass filter in front of the camera sensor as in the case of the Nikon d810 or the Nikon d7100.

The camera has in build ligth falloff / vignette control like in the upper level models.

The camera has a dedicated picture control button for quick change of image parameters.

The Nikon d5500 has built in HDR and active D-lighting functions as well.

The camera has a 1037k dots, 3.2″ swivel back LCD screen.

The max resolution is 6000 x 4000 pixel for still images.

The camera can record HD video at 60 fps frame rate, which is very good.

The Nikon d5500 is a little smaller than the predecessor.

Nikon d5500 release date review specs rumor

nikon d5500
New Nikon d5500 camera can come in 2015. Seems Nikon skip the Nikon d5400. The number 4 is not very popular in Japan. This happened with Panasonic as well after the G3 comes the G5, skipping the G4. It is not sure yet though.

Nikon d5500 specs

The camera rumored to have a touchscreen interface, which is the first in Nikon Dslr. The camera most likely will have the 24 Megapixel sensor. The interesting thing is what the touchscreen will do, and the external controls will remain or the touchscreen will serve instead of the external buttons. In case of the Canon they keep all external controls, and the touchscreen can serve as an additional solution.
