Which trees for birds ?

Which trees for birds ?

Which trees for birds ? What I wrote perhaps most useful in Europe, but perhaps have similar trees in other places as well.

which trees for birds

Blackbird on Taxus baccata

If we have a garden and like birds, perhaps interested which tree species are the best for attracting birds to our garden ?

Several thoughts about the theme:

1. What is our goal: birds nests in our garden or birds coming to eat in our garden ?

2. Which bird species we want the most in our garden ?

As a general rule perhaps the birds like our garden if it looks like their natural habitat. Before plant a tree perhaps a good thing to check how big it is going to be, what kind of leaves, crop the tree has, we like it that or not ? Smaller birds like places where their their enemies (cat, dog, sparrowhawk, owls) cannot get them. Such places are the thick shrubs, trees with lots of branches. Shrubs normally we can plant next to the fence area.

Which trees like the birds the most:

Lots of birds like pine trees, for example kinglets usually only find on pine trees. Golden orioles like huge green trees like poplar or oak. Smaller species like Wrens and Robins like more the shrubs. Woodpeckers like dead trees. Several species like fruit trees.
