Latest camera rumors
Sony a6300 is coming
Canon 80d will be released with a 24 MP sensor
New releases
Nikon d5500 camera
Seems it is a smaller upgrade. The biggest difference is the built in Wifi and Touchscreen, which enables to control the camera from the smartphone.
The Canon 400mm-f/4 DO lens
is an interesting new DO DO lens (diffractive optics). The lens is significantly improved over the earlier version.
Nikon d750
The Nikon d750 is a new, Full frame “Multimedia” Dslr camera from Nikon. The camera has a 24 Megapixel Full frame CMOS sensor with a wide 24.5 EV dynamic range. The camera has a 1229 k dots tilt LCD screen, which can be tilted in two directions for better usability. This feauture is very handy at video recording.

The Canon 100-400mm-f/4-5.6 II
The long awaited new version of the Canon 100-400 f/4-5.6 is zoom lens is coming. The new lens has a turn-type zoom action, instead of the often criticized older push-pull design.
Canon 24-105 L is review
The Canon 24-105 L is a convenient lens, especially on Full Frame cameras. Not tack sharp, but quite usable. The af is very quick, and the stabilizer is also effective. The bokeh is also better on Full frame cameras. Very usable for video as well.
The Canon 7d Mk II
The Canon 7d Mk II has a 20 Megapixel Aps-C CMOS sensor, with little better characteritics, than the recently released Canon 70d. The camera can shoot at 10 fps rate, has an advanced af system of the Canon 1D x. The camera has 65 all cross-type af points. Double cross-type in the center.
The Canon 10-18mm Aps-C lens
Lots of offering here in the quite pricey category. The new Canon 10-18mm seems a good lens, for a discounted price. It is an Ef-s lens with crop sensor compatibility.
The Sigma 150mm-600mm Sport lens
is a new release from Sigma. Sigma seems inspired by the success of the Tamron 150-600mm, and also made a longer 600mm lens. The new lens has two versions: the bigger heavier, more serious “Sports” version and a cheaper, lighter more affordable version. The optical formula of the two lens is not the same but seems similar in general. The more expensive “Sport” version has more exotic elements.
The Nikon 20mm f/1.8
The new Nikon 20mm f/1.8 seems quite an interesting lens, especially on Full frame cameras. The wide angle and the bright aperture helps the lens to be very useful in many types of photography.
Gopro Hero 4
The Gopro Hero 4 action movie camera is quite an interesting something. The higher end editions can record 4K video, and other formats above the HD as well. The camera can make nice detailed stills images (12 Megapixel at 30 fps) as well. For 500 USD it seems quite a good bargain if we like to make action videos.
Iphone 6
Can the IPhone 6 can be better? Check it in the article.
Sigma 24-105 dg os hsm review
I am not a big fun of mid-range zoom lenses. On the other hand it is quite convenient to photograph with such lenses. The new Sigma 24-105 os has excellent build quality. Sigma even uses a new material for the lens. Optically the lens is also not bad, app as good as the Canon 24-105 is.
Interesting equipments nowadays:
The Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 A lens
is one of the lenses in the Sigma “Art” line. Be careful though not all “A” lenses has the same quality. But this Aps-C sensor Sigma 18-35mm lens is nothing sort of phenomenal. This lens is totally sharp at f/1.8 any focal length, check the pictures in our review at above link. The f/1.8 aperture allows to make a nice blurred background. For us is clear what Sigma does is absolutely fantastic. This is most people wantm, a real f/1.8 lens. Yes the autofocus is not a USM from Canon, but I would use this lens even in manual mode. Many people use this lens on Full frame as well. f/1.8 zoom on FF, not bad.
Sigma 35mm f/1.4 A lens
is a very interesting new lens from Sigma. This lens is really sharp at f/1.4 already. According to photozone it is better than the Canon and Nikon counterparts, which we haven’t tested yet. But we tested the Sigma, you can read the review clicking on the link above. It is a new “Art” lens which has a different finish, it is longer, black, not matte, and has excellent build quality. A substantial item. It is more meant for Full frame on Aps-C the field of view is a little narrow, but if you can live with it, it is a fantastic lens, with f/1.4 aperture, which is very useful. On Full frame the focal length is just perfect for general photography, as a one lens solution.
Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 review
The Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 lens has an excellent value. The fast f/2.8 aperture helps to create nice background blur, and handy in many low light situations. The lens is very sharp, the sharpest at f/5.6 at wide angle setting. The other good feature is the smaller size, and less weight which is acchieved by the special Xr glass element used by Tamron. The lens has a newer bigger stabilized version as well. The original non-stabilized version is optically better, but the difference is not so huge. The newer stabilized version is more expensive. Both lenses can be checked in the lens reviews section.
Canon 200mm f/2.8
My all time favourite. Cannot find a better lens yet. In the review there are many image samples, together with the Kenko 1.4 dgx, Canon 2x Mk II converters. In the converter reviews you can check samples with the Kenko Pro 300 1.4 dgx and Kenko Pro 300 2x dgx converters as well.
Nikon 300mm f/4 Af-D
is a cheapest really good wildlife lens for Nikon. Very good with the 1.4x teleconverter as well.
Nikon 16-85 vr review
The Nikon 16-85 vr is an interesting lens. The 16-85mm focal length is quite versatile on the Dx camera.
The Nikon 35mm f/1.8G Dx
is a lens which is absolutely recommended for any Dx Nikon shooter. Small, very light, bright and very sharp, even wide open. Much better than the “kit” lens.
Canon 135mm f/2 lens
is a fantastic lens from Canon. The lens has a very agressive autofocus, excellent optical qualities, even at f/2, and beautiful background blur or ‘bokeh’.
Samsung NX 1
is an interesting camera. Seems the Samsung really wants to make it right to the top. It is not an entry level offering: the camera has a 28 Megapixel (!) Aps-C CMOS sensor, new codec for video, superfast Wifi, af system which can work in extreme low light situations. Very interesting. Once I bought a Samsung camera still was no luck selling it. This camera is in a different leage though. The initial price is 1500 USD.
The Tamron 180mm f/3.5 macro
is an interesting lens. The longer focal length helps to create a more pronounced background blur than the competition of shorter macro lenses. The af is slow though and it is an older micromotor. The picture quality is superb. The price of this lens is much less than the other long macro lenses from Sigma Canon and Nikon.
Canon 60mm f/2.8
The Canon 60mm is an interesting lens, very sharp, small, and light and can produce extraordinary pictures.
Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8
is an exceptional lens, I was really surprised to see how sharp it is even on the 24 Megapixel Nikon d7100 camera. The 14-24mm focal length range is quite nice range to work with, on a Full frame camera very wide, on Dx quite wide as well. The f/2.8 aperture is quite nice. The lens has one significant drawback especially at landscape photography, the filter usage, which is not really solved here.
Canon 17-55mm f/2.8 review
The Canon 17-55mm f/2.8 is an extraordinary lens. Very sharp, has a quick USM drive, and has a useful range. Only for crop sensor. The only drawback is the high price, but now perhaps more and more used copies appear in the market.
The Tamron 150-600mm Vc USD
is a very interesting lens. Before was no 600mm zoom lens on the market. The lens is big, the weight is around 2kg, but for the picture quality many wildlife photography happily can carry the weight. The price is very good compare to the longer alternatives (1070 USD). The lens is much better than any of the older Sigma xx-500mm lenses on the market. The only problem that it is very hard to get a copy of the lens, needs to wait several months to get a lens. Currently the lens available in Canon and Nikon mounts. We managed to get a copy in Canon mount to test it. Well worth the price. On top of the long focal length, low price it has a stabilizer as well. See even full size samples in our review. A very good lens.
Canon 400mm f/5.6
Perhaps the most boring lens in the market. The best affordable “serious telephoto ” you can get. Very good contrast, not so extremely high resolution, but very good with the 1.4 Kenko teleconverter as well (560mm f/8). With the teleconverter plenty of light needed, or camera with very good high ISO performance. Why the Kenko? Because with the newest Kenko 1.4 dgx version you have autofocus as well. This lens is capable to make “wow” pictures. Excellent build, relatively small and light, quick and precise USM autofocus. The only drawback is the 3.5m minimum focusing distance.
Induro at 313 alu tripod review
The Induro at 313 is a very good, sturdy tripod. At this price range it is the best you can get. It has a twist type foamed legs, three section. The legs has three settings regarding angle.
Canon 18-55mm is stm
The Canon 18-55 is stm is a very good lens, at least at the wide angle setting. Comparing with the Tamron 17-50mm the Canon is very capable even sharper at wide angle setting. The new non-rotating front element construction helps to use filters, like polarizers, which makes the lens even more usable. The price of the lens is a little higher than before, but the lens better optically as well. The stm drive is really silent and very good for video, where smooth transitions can be achieved with the stm drive. The contrast level and the flare resistance is also better than at the earlier versions. The long end is not as good, but for this price no point to complain. Here the Tamron 17-50mm non vc is clearly better than the new kit lens.
Nikon d7100 review
The Nikon d7100 is a very well rounded camera. On absolute scale it has a very good overall value, because of the wide dynamic range, very high resolution and excellent high iso performance. Besides the impressive image quality the camera has a very good build quality, lots of functions, customization options, my menu, in camera post processing options as well. Best for bird / wildlife photography and landscapes.
Canon 5d Mk 3 review
The Canon 5d Mk3 is a fantastic camera. It can produce stunning pictures with appropriate lenses.
Soligor 100-400 review
Do you want a super cheap 400mm for a beginner Dslr photographer? The Soligor 100-400 is not the best lens out there, has strong CA, softness, but has 400mm focal length.
Nikon d7000 review
The Nikon D7000 is simply a fantastic camera. It is usable at high ISO speeds, unimaginable several years ago. The Af system is quick and precize, the camera has plenty of functions.

How we review lenses?
We review lenses in a natural way: make lots of pictures with different apertures, in different lighting conditions and analyze the results on the computer.
Usually don’t shoot test charts and other scientific methods. We try to keep the review simple, and concentrate on how useful the particular lens in real-life.
We check how sharp the particular lens is, how fast and precise the autofocus is, what kind of colors the lens can produce, and how good is the contrast of the lens.
How we review cameras?
We try to give a good overview what we can get, which are the new functions, is it worth to upgrade and how good the picture quality is. We check the high ISO quality, dynamic range and colors as well.
How the camera compare to other cameras in the market, how good value it has.
We also give an overview of the usage of a particular camera, which are the
