The very popular Magic lantern firmware is available for Canon 70d as well. It is a huge software upgrade which makes your camera a real beast. It needs lots of care installing though. This is an Alpha version now.
Issues with Canon 750d / 760d cameras
Some of this cameras has a problem with a glass in front of the sensor. The glass looks on faulty copies like many small points on them all over everywhere, not completely clean as supposed to be. So if you buy the camera check carefully.
Yongnuo 35mm f/2
Yongnuo was known about flash units mainly on a budget price. But after they started to produce a Canon 50mm f/1.8 clone at a discounted price. What is more interesting now they will produce a 35mm f/2 lens for Canon as well. Seems the 50mm is very popular even hard to get a copy for testing. Don’t think is a product you cannot miss, but the price is quite friendly. The 50mm is works, and seems makes capable images, no usm drive same lens formula as the Canon. In the corners the Canon better.
Sigma lens incompatibility issues
Some incompatibility issues can occur with Sigma lenses and newer Canon cameras (Nikon as well). The cure can be different usually a free firmware update can solve the problem, or a USB dock, but in certain cases must send back the lens to Sigma. The current notice by Sigma says that the Live view mode is not working with several lenses and a Canon 750d/760d (T6i / T6s) cameras.

120 Megapixel Canon sensor – Canon news
Those who thought why needed 50.6 megapixel in a camera, including me, would be surprized that Canon won’t stop there.
In 2015 Yokohama Canon shows a 120 (!) megapixel sensor. The size of the sensor is between the Aps-C and Full frame size, 29.2 x 20.2mm. The resolution is 13280 x 9184 pixel, it is very similar to human eye’s resolution. The pixel size is 2.2 Mikron. The sensor is meant for video, space and industrial applications, and can make 9.5 frames per second. The price and release date is not yet known.

Canon 150-600mm f/5.6 is – Canon news
Such a lens not exist – yet, but perhaps can come in the future. Tamron makes the very popular Tamron 150-600mm lens for 1070 USD and it becomes a hot seller, must wait months to have one. After Sigma makes the Sigma 150-600 Sports lens, which is little more expensive, but seems very popular as well. The Trend the folks selling the very expensive 500mm 600mm prime lenses from Canon and buy Sigma and Tamron instead. I thought perhaps Canon also can make a little better L version with proper USM focus and stabilizer, and perhaps a little brighter proper f/5.6 version, or f/6.3 or even f/8 would be interesting with fluorite or ud elements. Who knows ?
Ibelux 40mm f/0.85 lens – Canon news
The German manufacturer’s ultra fast prime lens is already available for 1900 USD for Canon EOs-M cameras. The lens is also available in other mounts as well as Sony, Fuji X and Micro 4/3 as well. There are also other lenses projected with different characteristics, like a new Wide angle lens, a Tilt-shift lens, a longer high speed mirror lens and perhaps many other. The 40mm f/0.85 has concave front lens element, 67mm filter thread, 2.5′ minimum focusing distance. The lens is designed for Aps-C sensors. I never used such a bright lens, compare to the classic 50mm f/1.8 this lens allows more than 4 times shutter speed or lower iso. The depth of field I guess is extremely shallow at such large aperture setting. As you probably guess it is a manual focus lens. The throw of the manual focus is 250 degree, which helps in precise focusing. The lens has 10 circular aperture blades. The lens made of high quality materials, such as anodized aluminium, stainless steel and brass. The weight of the lens is 1.2 kg, the size is 74 x 128 mm or 2.91 x 5.04″. Bit strange the huge weight, high price on mirrorless cameras designed for being small. This lens inclined for pro shooters, good for FF Sony according to my opinion. The lens has a metal lens barell and integrated lens hood.
Tamron 15-30 f/2.8 – Canon news
The Tamron 15-30mm f/2.8 lens come soon for 1200 USD. The lens projected to be available from February.
Canon 400mm f/5.6 II or Canon 400mm f5.6 is ? – Canon news
No official announcement but I somehow think this lens can be one of the new lenses in the Canon lineup. The original version is a true best seller, a lens with one of the best reputation in the Canon lineup. Canon sold many of these lenses. Many people like it, use it, and perhaps willing to pay a little extra for a little better optical performance or a stabilizer. The weight and size of the lens is quite nice, the autofocus is quick and silent. We well see..If Canon release the new version it will be more expensive it is almost sure, as we see at many other lenses recently.
Samyang 135mm f/2 lens is coming – Canon news
Samyang the Korean manufacturer of high quality manual focus optics is now announced the new 135mm f/2 lens. The lens will have a cinema version as well with T 2.2 transmission value. ( It is similar to f stops, but measured value for cinema ). It is also a manual focus lens. The price is 549 USD.
Sigma 100-300 f/4 review – Canon news 2015

Canon 6d mk II rumors specification guesses – Canon news 2015
No sure yet that Canon 6d Mk II coming or not and when, but seems it is possible in short time. We thought a little bit about the possibilities. Canon 6d Mk II
Yongnuo lenses converters adapters – Canon news 2015
It is interesting Chinese manufacturer Youngnuo known for it’s flash units expand their product range towards lenses, teleconverters, adapters and who knows what else. On Ebay such items appear as a Canon 50mm f/1.8 II lens clone, Canon 2x extender clone, Canon EF-M lens adapters and such. The price for the 50mm lens is barely cheaper than the original Canon product (won’t be a huge surprise if the Youngnuo would be better, at least in build quality). Yongnuo flashes has a good value, now even high speed synch is possible with the more advanced models. Would be interesting a cheap Yongnuo “L” – Canon telephoto for example ?
Canon 35mm f/1.4 L II – Canon news 2015
The second version of the Canon 35mm f/1.4 prime lens can come in 2015. Canon already submitted a patent for the new lens.
50 Megapixel Canon 3d ? – Canon news 2015
According to newest rumors an 50 Megapixel Full frame Canon 3d can come in the near future perhaps in 2015. As Nikon has a big success with it’s 36 Megapixel camera, it is not impossible such an answer from Canon. But don’t take this too seriously, perhaps it is just a rumor for some reason.
Tamron 180mm macro review
The Tamron 180mm f/3.5 macro is an interesting lens. The longer focal length helps to blur the background/foreground in a more enhanced way. It is also cheaper than the long macro alternatives (Canon 180mm, Sigma 150, 180mm macro lenses). Tamron 180mm macro review

What about a new Canon EOS M mirrorless
There is a rumors here and there about a new Canon Mirrorless camera. It is interesting, if Canon make something in this area. What would be really interesting is a Full frame mirrorless Canon, which is not very likely, because of new lenses would needed in this case, with smaller distance from the sensor. Existing lenses could be used with an adapter, but this is perhaps not so elegant solution. A possibility is a fixed non-changeable bright lens as well, as Sony made it in some of it’s models. Who knows ?

Seems there is a huge collection of image processing softwares, Adobe, DXO, and Phase One is released it’s new versions of their Capture one software. A professional software can help a lot in post processing to have the best results. The most popular out of these softwares is Lightroom, the best for sharpening is Capture one, for lens corrections and noise reduction DXO is the best according to my opinion. All these softwares has many new functions.
Lightroom 5.7
Adobe released the new version of the very popular Lightroom image processing program. The new version supports the newest Canon 7d Mk II and many new lenses as well.
The new version supports the following new EF mount lenses:
Zeiss 85/1.4 ZE
Sigma 18-300mm
Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3
Tokina 116 11-16mm f/2.8
DXO Optics Pro 10 – Canon news 2015
DXO also released the new version of the DXO Optics Pro. The current version is the DXO Optics Pro 10. What is very good in DXO Optics that the software can auto-correct many things, like lighting levels, or lens distortions. Haze from landscapes and smog from city pictures can be automatically removed by a new clearview function. The DXO is also very good at noise reduction. The Elite version sells for 199 USD, the cheaper Essential Pro version sells for 129 USD.
Capture One Pro 8 – Canon news 2015
Phase one also released their excellent program, with new functions. The new clone and heal tool helps to remove unwanted spots from the picture, like dust. The HDR tools helps to get pull out more details from the highlight and shadow areas. Local adjustments like noise reduction or sharpening also possible just some parts of the image. The catalogs function is very helpful to organize collections of images. The initial price is 739 USD.
DXO release test data for the new Canon 7d Mk II
The numbers:
Color depth: 22.4 bits
Dynamic range: 11.8 EV
High ISO: 1082
What does this means? As I see it the sensor basically the same as before, or very slightly improved with a little better software. Dynamic range and color depth doesn’t changed. Compare to the 7d the difference is app 20-30% in High iso score (854 was the 7d). My Nikon d7000 is significantly better in all three areas, especially in Dynamic range (13.9 EV). It doesn’t mean the Canon 7d II is a bad camera at all. The Canon 7d II has a very capable af system, high frame rate (10 fps), decent buffer (34 Raw images), and unique Dual pixel video af, which for example the Nikon d7100 lacks (all of them). I checked today many places how different people interpret these numbers. Most people was happy with the new 7d Mk II sensor performance. I thought if Canon waited 5 years they will put a new, significantly better sensor in the 7d mk II. It is true that the Dynamic range is the same for Full frame Canons as well, the Canon 6d is the best with a 12.1 EV. Several years before Canon was leading the sensor technology by a huge margin, now seems Sony is ahead, and Panasonic and Olympus is very close, and better in some aspects than Canon. As I see pictures and videos from the new 7d II it is capable of stunning results. According to me the 1700 USD is a bit steep (same as a FF 6d), but hopefully will be cheaper in some time.
New Canon 11-24 f/4 L – Canon news 2015
Many places appear the rumor about the new Canon 11-24 f/4L ultra wide angle lens. We still don’t know it is a rumor or this lens will come or not. The rumored price is app 3000 USD. Obviously Canon is not so strong here, as Nikon has a 14-24mm f/2.8, which is better than any Canon counterparts. It would be interesting if Canon can also produce such a gem. There is no information yet about the lens availability.
New Canon 100-400 II announced – Canon news 2015

The lens has one Flourite and one Super UD elements. The lens has 9 circular diaphragm blades. The lens now has rotating zoom action unlike the zoom of the old push-pull design model. Possible new Canon lenses – Canon news 2015
We collect some lenses which possible can have an upgrade. Most of it a guess don’t take it very seriously:
Canon 400mm f/5.6L II or is
Canon 100-400 f/4-5.6L is II – was confirmed at Photokina, no exact date yet.
Canon 35mm f/1.4 II
Canon 24-105 f/4L is II
Canon 300mm f/4 L is II
Canon 800mm f/5.6L II
Canon 17-40 f/4 L II
Canon also plan to develop more DO (Diffractive optics) lenses in the future. Until now Canon has a 70-300 DO and the 400 f/4 DO I and II versions.
DO optics works differently than normal lenses (opposite manner), but allows the lens to be smaller and lighter.
There had flare problems in the past with DO lenses because the Do elements were in the front part of the lens, while the newest 400 f/4 Do II has the Do elements more in the rear parts, and they can place lens elements closer to each other.
They also aim at reducing the price of Do lenses to appear in the wider range of products, include not so expensive ones.
Possible new Canon lenses:
Canon 18-35mm f/1.8
Canon 1.7x extender
Canon 150-600mm
New Canon cameras 2015 – Canon news 2015
What kind of Canon cameras can be expected in 2015 ? The rumors talks about 2 new High end cameras. What these can be?
I don’t think this talks about the Canon 6d Mk II perhaps more of a Canon 1 Dx II or Canon 1D C II or something like this. Rumors talks about Multilayer sensor, and earlier news talks about Canon will produce Middle format cameras.
Perhaps the new cameras will be middle format cameras with a 44*33mm or even bigger sized sensor. Recently most middle format sensor is supplied by Sony. Phase one, Mamiya, Hasselblad, Pentax all use Sony sensors in the latest models. Other possibility is a 36 Mp Full frame camera like the Nikon d800. It would be interesting a Canon 36Mp or 40Mp Full frame.
It is interesting Canon will produce a new Middle format sensor or will use Sony sensor as well ?
Canon mirrorless cameras 2015
This is interesting until now we have an information that Canon don’t want to release new Mirrorless cameras. The Canon EOS M and M2 cameras were released by Canon yet with an Aps-c sized sensor. No Canon full frame mirrorless camera yet, but this would be very interesting for many people I think.
Canon 750d
Poor little Canon 750d seems was omitted until now, seems Canon concentrate on pricier items nowadays. According to earlier schedule it would needed to come in this Spring. The 7d Mk II was just released, and it needed 4 years to come so it is not very likely that a new camera will arrive soon in this segment.
Capture One Pro 8
The Capture one pro 8 is coming with several interesting functions:
– Catalogs – speedy overview of photos, help to organise photos
– Film grain – creative effects for hiding noise
– Keystone correction – corrects both horizontal or vertical effect
– Live view – for selected Phase one, Mamiya Leaf, Canon and Nikon cameras helps to compose, focus and light pictures optimally
– Repair layers clone and heal layers tool
Canon 750d rumors
There is a rumor that the new Canon 750d would be a MILC camera with an electronic viewfinder.

Canon 85mm 1.8 lens review
The Canon 85mm 1.8 is one of the ‘must have’ or ‘best buy’ in the EF lineup if you interested for portraits photography. It is superb lens especially considered the price compare to the other options. Very fast USM focusing, great colors, and contrast, bright f/1.8 aperture, beautiful bokeh. What else is needed for a serious portrait photographer? The only drawback is some purple fringing at high contrast scenarios.
Canon 85mm 1.8 review
Sigma 150-600 lens is coming
Seems the new Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 lens is definitely coming in two versions. The bigger more expensive version is a Sports version with 24 lens elements in 16 groups included 2 FLD and 3 SLD glass. The price of this lens is 2000 USD. The filter thread is 105mm, and the lens weight is 2.86kg. The lighter, cheaper, simpler “Contemporary version” has less lens elements, only one FLD glass, 95mm filter thread. The price and weight is not yet known. Both lens has optical stabilizer with accelerometer which helps in panning shots.

Canon Multilayer sensors
There is a rumor about Canon releasing multilayer sensors in the near future, in some high end cameras, Canon has a patent for it, It would be interesting to see something revolutionary new in sensor technology.
Canon 7d Mk II first official samples
At below page there is a link for the first official samples of the Canon 7d Mk II, stills and video as well. As I see won’t cut it if I compare to Nikon. Seems better than at earlier cameras but some grain is still there. Better software but not a breakthrough which is hoped by many I guess.

Canon 7d MkII article updated
I updated the article regarding Canon 7d Mk II, what can this camera do, what are the new functions regarding stills, video, GPS and electronic compass. Frame rates, resolution, flash functions, live view. What are these surprising functions good for? Seems it is quite a good package, regarding functions. What is really interesting is picture quality. There is no info yet about high iso performance, dynamic range etc.
Canon 7d Mk II
Three new Canon lenses
There are three new Canon lenses was introduced at Photokina. The Canon 24-105 f/4-5.6 Stm for full frame, The Ef-s 24mm f/2.8 pancake for crop sensor, and the new Canon 400mm f/4 DO is II. The small pancake seems very handy if we want to travel light. Short small and I guess not bad optically. The 24-105 seems a budget option with video optimized ftm focusing, but with less brightness at the long end. The new 400mm f/4 is a heavy shooter at a heavy price. Seems improved over the earlier version, but no review yet.
Canon N2 selfie camera announced
Seems several new Canon compact camera is announced. The Canon Powershot N2 selfie camera has a 1/2.3″ sensor, tilt screen, Digic6 processor, and a giant 28-244mm f/3-5.9, 8x zoom lens. The camera has built in Wifi and NFC connectivity. The camera has an ISO range of 100-3200.

Zeiss Otus 85mm f/1.4 lens for Photokina lens is rumored
There are rumors about the new manual focus Zeiss lens announced in Photokina.
Sigma 150-600 lens is rumored – Canon news 2015 2016 2017
There are new rumors about the new Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 lens. Sigma seems inspired by Tamron to make such a long telephoto lens. It is interesting, the rumors speak about “Sports lens” and “Higher grade”. I am very curious what kind of new lens can Sigma come up with.
Canon 7d Mk II specs – Canon news 2014 2015 2016
The newest rumors speak about 20.2 Megapix sensor (no multilayer as told before), no touchscreen (doubt it) even fixed (not so useful for video), ISO range of 100-12,800 (extended up to 51,200) 65 all cross-type sensors, dual cross type sensor in the center, autofocusing up to f/8 (like 1d series Canon cameras, or the Nikon d7100, very useful) instead of f/5.6 as this range cameras before. This can come handy if someone put the 1.4x Canon teleconverter on the Canon 400mm f/5.6, which was not an autofocusing combination before (f/8 already), but the same combo with the newest Kenko 1.4x dgx works on older Canon 7d as well. Dual pixel autofocus for video must-have I think, especially for the price they asking. HD video at 60fps, as usual at today’s cameras. Dual digic6 processing engines, mic and headphone socket, better spot metering, 100% viewfinder. Nothing about picture quality, high ISO capability, dynamic range..which is perhaps the most interesting, will it be better significantly than the 70d or not.
Best lenses recently in 2014
What are the most interesting lenses nowadays? Sigma significantly changed the market with several of it’s current offerings. Before Sigma was known to make cheap alternative lenses for students or people on a tighter budget. This era is over. The Sigma 35 1.4 A(Art), the Sigma 50mm 1/4 A, the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 are really exceptional lenses, with excellent wide open performance. The Sigma 24-105mm is also not bad. Tamron released a very sensibly priced 150-600mm long telephoto zoom with very good performance. Several months needs to wait if you want to get a copy.
What about the new Canon lenses?
In the beginning of the year there was rumors about 8 new Canon lenses. Up to now Canon released the 10-18mm and the 16-35mm f4 is. Which are the others? It is interesting to think about. Rumors speaks about a Canon 24mm f/2.8 pancake(24 f/2.8 is stm), and the Canon 70-300 DO (Diffractice optics allows smaller lens size) II, and the Canon 400mm f/4 DO II. Until now these DO lenses was not the most popular lenses, but some people like the 400mm f/4 because of the 1 stop extra brightness over the 400mm f/5.6. If the rumors are true it is interesting how good the new DO lenses will be. There is also a rumor about a new Canon 24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 is stm lens.
Canon SX400 an SX520 superzoom cameras coming
Canon release two new moderately priced superzoom cameras the Canon SX400 and Canon SX520. The Canon SX520 sports with a zoom range of 24-1008mm.(FF equivalent).

Canon 18-55 is Stm review
Seems the new 18-55 is Stm is sharper than the Tamron 17-50mm at the wide end at f/5.6. It is interesting. The new Canon 18-55 is significantly sharper than the earlier Canon 18-55 is as well. At the long end the Tamron is significantly sharper. The new Stm focus is silent and makes nice transitions for video recording. What is alsp nice that the front element is not rotating, which let the filter usage possible.

Informations about the new friendly priced Canon 10-18mm
Seems the new Canon 10-18mm(Aps-C) is a very sharp lens, almost as good as the Canon 10-22 at half price. The only downside of the lens is the heavy vignetting (correctable) and plastic construction. We haven’t tested the lens yet.

Canon Full frame mirrorless camera
Canon mirrorless cameras
Several of my friends or people I know have mentioned that they want to buy Canon Eos M mirrorless cameras. This is interesting. The Canon Eos M camera has a nice Aps-C sized sensor, with good photo and video abilities but with slow autofocus, very small compact-like body, touchscreen, few external controls, no viewfinder. It is understandable that Canon doesn’t like the idea of mirrorless cameras. According to my opinion, perhaps not true, that most mirrorless cameras are bought by photo enthusiasts as a second or third or fourth camera. Currently only two lenses available a 18-55mm and a 22mm prime lens. With a separately bought adapter all Canon lenses usable on the small camera. Nikon made a small sensored camera with quick autofocus which is loved by birders for example. The Canon Eos M already has a second version the M2, which seems to cure the problem of slow focusing. Now only sell in China and Japan, perhaps in the US in near future. What would be good for a future Eos M body:
-good electronic viewfinder
-bigger better build, grip
-fast focusing with any Canon lens with an adapter
-external controls
-more lenses
-flipout screen
–Dslr like dials, and controls
Canon 7d mk II and Canon 750d
These are the hot topics now. Everybody waits for this two cameras to come out. There is a big silence about them. The Canon 7d will be put full with technology, and everybody interested if the new Canon 750d will have the dual-pixel autofocus and the Canon 70d’s sensor or not. Canon entry level line is not very fascinating from the Canon 550d(same sensor until 700d), it is interesting whether Canon will change this view or not.
