Nikon 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 P lenses
These lenses seems similar to Canon‘s stm (stepping motor). When your record a video with a Dslr camera, you hear the sound of the focusing motor even with the SWM lenses. Other problems is transitions in video where the normal focusing is simple too fast. These two problems can be solved with a stepping motor, which in Canon’s case is completely silent (cannot check the Nikkor yet). There are two versions of this lens one with a stabilizer other without. Both has SIC coating, and two aspherical elements.

The SB5000 told to be the top of the line product.
Issues with different Nikon gear
The new Nikon 200-500mm f/5.6 has autofocus issues (serial number under 2008365, the af can switch to mf, Nikon repairs this with a firmware), or at least several samples of the lens. There are issues with the Nikon 300mm f4 Pf ed Vr as well, according to Ming Thein if the stabilizer is engaged the picture is not sharp. Without the stabilizer no such problem. Earlier Nikon d750 had the flare issues (See the video here)
on the Nikon d810 had hot pixel problems in long exposures.

Nikon warns about fake Nikon cameras. What does it mean ? The swindlers change the outer shell of the cameras, for example put a Nikon d610 external cover on a Nikon d7100. There are reports of a fake Nikon d800e (in reality Nikon d800) Nikon d4s (in reality old Nikon D4) as well. To check it see the saved image in playback mode and choose overview, the camera type is visible in the upper right corner.

Sigma 24mm f/1.4 Art – Nikon news
Nikon D810 A is announced
The Nikon D810 A is essentially a Nikon d810 modified for astro photography. Astro photography is about taking photos of planets, stars and other objects appear in the night sky. This camera is more sensitive for long wavelength red lights, which is especially interesting in astro photography than the other “normal” cameras. In fact other camera filter out most of the red lights. The camera will have an ISO range of 200-12,800 (100-51,200 in extended mode) and allows exposures of 15 minutes without switching to bulb mode. The 36 Megapixel sensor comes with infrared filter. The price of the camera will be around 3800 USD. The camera will be available from May 2015. The camera can record Full HD video as well. The camera has 51 focus points. The camera is sealed against dust and moisture and has a durable magnesium alloy body and a fixed LCD screen. There is a speculation that a camera can capture images with reddish cast in normal photography, but this is not proven yet.

Nikon d400
I see a definite interest about the Nikon d400. Seems Nikon don’t want to continue this line, when call Nikon d7100 “flagship”, but who knows? Why don’t manufacture something what many people want? It is just seems logical. The Nikon d300 was a class leading camera in many ways and liked by many.
Canon recently released the 7d Mk II with the Canon 1D x AF system, or something similar. 10 fps frame rate, 65 cross-type AF points. Obviously most bird/wildlife shooters won’t buy the new Nikon d4s, because the budget is spent on lenses usually already. If you have any rumor regarding the new Nikon D400 don’t hesitate to share at here. Nikon d400 release date
What about a high-end DX camera Nikon d400 Nikon d7200 or Nikon d5
I read about the Canon 7d II today. The sensor is not up to current Nikons.
Even my Nikon d7000 has better dynamic range, better color response, and better high ISO performance. The biggest the difference in dynamic range, which is a Canon weakness, even the Canon 5d 3 blows out highlights quite easily, the smallest the difference perhaps in High iso performance according to DXO. The new Canon camera improves in many ways, but there is no new sensor, which is perhaps expected by many.
On the other hand it gets almost the af system of the 6000 USD 1D X, 10 fps frame rate 65 all-cross-type focus point, ultrafast and accurate af.
In Nikon land there is no problem with the sensor: high dynamic range, good colors, very good high ISO performance. What is missing compare to Canon is a good burst rate (the 7d II can shoot 34 Raw files, more than 100 jpegs), pro built quality, and perhaps a very good 400mm f/5.6 lens.
Exactly what the Canon has. I do not understand why Nikon don’t release the new Nikon d400, which is awaited and required by many. Today most argument in wildlife or bird photography goes like this: Nikon cameras are better, but Canon has a 400mm f/5.6 and better burst mode.
Why Nikon don’t release a 400mm f/5.6 and release a new D400?
Then would be no argument why to choose Canon for wildlife or sports photography. Nikon has a 300mm f/4 lens, but a 400mm f/5.6 is 560mm with a 1.4x converter, which is equal to the 300mm f/4 with a 2x, which is not ideal in terms of picture quality or af performance.
New Nikon telephoto lenses with fluorite elements
After the 800mm f/5.6 FL, and 400mm f/2.8 FL many other Nikkor telephoto lenses can come with fluorite lens elements. Nikon 300mm f/2.8 or the 500mm f/4 is the most obvious candidates, or perhaps the 200mm f/2. Canon uses fluroite elements for long time, but seem Nikon also starts to use them more frequently, especially for super telephoto lenses.
DXO Optics Pro 10
DXO released the newest version of their popular software of Raw and Jps processing. The program can auto correct many optical flaws like distortion or chromatic aberrations. DXO has many camera and lens date to work with to give the best results in any situations. The new clearview function automatically remove haze from landscapes and smog from urban photos. The program also offers a Prime de-noising technology for high ISO shots. The smart lighting optimization helps to pull out optimum results from highlight and shadow areas as well.
The DXO Optics pro essential edition costs 129 USD, while the Elite version costs 199 USD. The software has Mac and Windows versions. Dxo don’t support Fuji X-trans sensor cameras as far as I know.

Capture one Pro 8
Phase One released the newest version of their Capture one image processing software. The new clone and heal layers tool helps to remove unwanted blemishes from the photo. The improved HDR tool helps to get more detail from the shadow and highlight areas. The software offers black and white conversion in the same program. Catalogs helps to organize the collections of images. You can also make all sorts of local adjustment on your images, directly on Raw files like noise reduction or White balance adjustments at a particular chosen parts of the image. There is a new film grain effect as well, to hide noise or creative purposes. The price of the Capture one Pro 8 is currently 739 USD. The price is little high, but according to me it is the best Raw converter regarding sharpening. Also very good for other functions as well. Phase one is manufacturer of the popular Middle format cameras, for processing these files the capture one is the software. Certainly a Pro program, for a pro price.
Nikon 20mm f/1.8G ED lens announced

Just posted: Tamron 150-600mm review
The new Tamron is simply excellent and much more affordable than the other options, see in more detail in the review. Now I check the Canon version and I think about to order Nikon or Canon mount is not decided. The Canon version I checked is simply excellent, perhaps better than the Canon 100-400 L which is not a bad lens either. On top of that is much cheaper, unfortunately not so much in Europe.

Tamron 150-600 shipping – Nikon news
Tamron 150-600 shipping is started for Nikon cameras as well. The Tamron 150-600 is a true 600mm lens for appr. 1000 dollar, with very good optical quality. This is unprecedented, one can pay huge sum for a decent 600mm lens even for a used old manual focus lens. Based upon reports of the Canon model, the autofocus is not up to Canons ultrasonic system in terms of speed and reliability. Still with this seems this lens has an excellent value. This is not a small lens, the weight is app. 2kg like the “Bigma”, but small and light compare to the primes in this range.

Nikon d7200 release date
Seems everybody waits for the new Nikon d7200 to be release which rumored for the Photokina in September. It is interesting what will be the new features of the Nikon d7200 camera. Folks are waiting for the Nikon d400 for long time, and Nikon calls the d7100 “flagship camera” which means perhaps no plan for the Nikon d400. The thing apart from build quality question which many don’t like is the short burst mode of the Nikon d7100. If the new Nikon d7200 will have a better burst mode perhaps can attract many who waits for the Nikon d400 to be released.
