Photo news 2015 – 120 Megapixel Canon sensor

120 Megapixel Canon sensor. Interesting, Canon shows a 120 megapixel sensor in Yokohama japan. This is just a prototype, not yet in production. The sensor size is 29.2mm x 20mm, somewhere between the Aps-C and Full frame. The new chip can make 6.5 images in every second. The chip is meant to be for industrial and astro applications by Canon.

The Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 Mk I is a very popular lens. Thanks to its wide range and bright aperture it is very versatile, and useful for many genre of photography. It is the most popular lens among Pro photographers. The newer Mk II version is even better but much more expensive. Now the Mk I version is even a better bargain.

The Canon 24-105mm is is a very popular lens. Thanks to the very wide range it is very versatile. It is meant for Full frame where the wide angle is very nice, but can be used on Aps-C as well, but here the wide angle is not really wide.

Canon 60mm Macro review

The Canon 60mm Macro is a very sharp lens. Because of this it is very interesting. With an extention tube the magnification can be 1.61x without any additional optical elements. (The extension tubes are empty rings.) The 60m is quite compact, and this focal length is very good for portraits as well.

Samyang 100mm f/2.8 Macro lens

Samyang soon will relase a new 100mm f/2.8 macro lens. Samyang lenses usually manual focusing lenses, without any electrical connection with the camera body. The lens is available in many mounts, like Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Sony E és Alpha, Fuji X, Samsung NX mounts. The price of the lens is 549 Euro, the T3.1 cinema version price is 599 Euro. The lens has several exotic elements like high refrective and Ed elements as well. The minimum focus distance is 1 foot. Samyang lenses sold under many names like Rokinon, Bower, Pro Optic and perhaps many more as well. The lens will be available from end of April 2015.

Sigma 50mm f/1.4 Art lens review

The Sigma 50mm f/1.4 Art is the sharpest 50mm lens on the market, much sharper than the Canon and Nikon lenses. This lens is very sharp even wide open, and shows only little improvement stopped down. (There is not too much to improve). On the other hand the lens is bigger and heavier than the usual older lenses with the popular Gauss optics. The lens is also able to produce an excellent bokeh.

Samyang 135mm f/2 lens

The Samyang 135mm f/2 is a new portrait lens which is coming. Samyang until now produces surprisingly good optics. Most Samyang lenses release to date are bright prime lenses with excellent built quality, but only with manual focusing. Usually the price of these lenses are much cheaper than the Canon or Nikon optics.

Nikon D7200 is coming with a bigger buffer and ISO 102,400 in BW mode.

The new Nikon d7200 seems a very capable camera, the buffer size seems 3x times more than the previous model. The camera has a Wifi and NFC connectivity as well.
Photo news Just announced: the Nikon d5500 Dslr camera with a touchscreen interface. The camera has a 24 Megapixel sensor, HD video at 60 fps but lacks GPS of the previous model.
